Simone De Beauvoir

I really admire to Simone de Beauvoir, she is a French woman who was writer, philosophy, and teacher in The Sorbonne University. She wrote The Second Sex, that is an elementary work of gender theory. There is a phrase in the Second Sex that I like so much. The phrase says: “Not born a woman”. This means that the facto to be a woman is something that is built for the society.

The partner of Simone De Beauvoir was Jean Paul Sartre. He was her teacher at the University of The Sorbonne. Both belong to the existentialist stream. The questions of this philosophical thought are about de life. For example ¿for what we live?

Simone de Beauvoir is one of the most important people to gender theory. She has done big contributions. Mainly she contributed to the noted that gender is a social construction.
The new movements of feminist take some her ideas. However to the condition of woman they add the situation of class, ethnicity, generation and others.

The books of Simone de Beauvoir are reading for the students of Master in gender and culture of University of Chile. Clearly she is symbol in the female wrestling. I like so much!
